June's Theme- Summer Strong!

  • JUNE- SOLSTICE STRENGTH 


This month our theme is Solstice strength! We’ll be looking at building strength in the body and mind, and using the solstice as our inspiration! 


What is Summer the Solstice?


The summer solstice is the longest day of the year, meaning the day with the most hours of sunlight.  As the earth does not spin on a vertical axis, (it is tilted)  the amount of sunlight that reaches different regions of the Earth changes during the year as it orbits the Sun.

For us in the UK our Solstice usually falls around the 20/21st of June. 


Whilst spring equinox marks the beginning of the year energetically, the summer solstice recognises coming in to full strength with the longer daylight hours. It’s a time to set intentions for the Summer period, and to allow the sun to fill us with energy for the Autumn harvest! 


Renewal and Abundance are synonymous with the solstice, so it’s the perfect time to use that energy to build strength in the body! 

We’ll be looking at strong foundations, pushing our bodies to their full capability, and working on stronger poses. 


We'll also be looking at developing some mental strength, as this is what carries us through the diffficult poses, and more importantly the tougher times on the mat. When we're inured or need to take things easy, it can be hard to have the discipline to still practice, but it is our practice that helps carry us through!
